This course is designed for behavioral health professionals, including but not limited to psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, counselors, and nurses, who want to enhance their skills in working with individuals at risk of suicide. It is appropriate for both early career clinicians as well as any seasoned clinician hoping to further develop their competence and confidence in working with those at risk of suicide. In developing the course, particular consideration was given to the needs of private practitioners who often operate without the structured support that is available in larger clinic settings - but the content applies to behavioral health clinicians in any setting. Course Learning Objectives


By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify at least three risk and two protective factors for suicide
  2. Name at least two attitudes or beliefs about suicide that can impact the assessment and intervention process
  3. Identify the four core principles that can guide the suicide assessment process
  4. Identify two brief interventions that can be implemented to maintain client safety
  5. Identify at least one risk status where hospitalization should be considered
  6. Explain the impact of involuntary actions, such as hospitalization, with diverse populations
  7. Describe at least two ethical and at least two legal obligations related to suicide prevention

Is there a time limit to access the course?

Yes. Once you enroll in the course you have access to it for five months. You must complete the course evaluation and quiz by that time in order to receive your CE Certificate.


Do I have to complete the course in one sitting? 

You can stop and restart the course anytime. You do not have to move though it in the specific sequence in which it is presented though it is recommended that you follow the established course curriculum flow.


If I don't pass the course quiz can I resubmit it or have I lost my opportunity for my CE Certificate?

There are 30 questions in the course quiz. You must receive a score of 80% (or 24/30) to receive your CE Certificate. You will receive feedback after you submit your responses indicating which ones were correct/incorrect and will have an opportunity to resubmit the quiz as many times as you need.


What is your refund policy?
